April 28 – Ottawa Horticultural Society Presentation.
“The Peonies of A.P. Saunders”, Find out How the CEF Peonies came to be from a local expert and the varieties created. Son of 1st director of the CEF created some marvelous peonies, many still displayed at the Farm. As a result of his work (with about 17,000 seedlings), gardeners gained access to a whole range of new colours on earlier flowering varieties. April 28, 2015 – 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tom Brown Arena – 141 Bayview. Talk given by former OHS pres. Blaine Marchand, author of 8 books and current Past Pres. of the Canadian Peony Society and the editor of its newsletter. May 2 – HCA-WWBIA Spring Cleanup.

Elmdale School is once again hosting their annual used clothing, toy, and equipment sale on May 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come enjoy some Bridgehead coffee and baked treats and take advantage of free child-minding service while you shop for great deals! Come early as well to get first pick of the vegetable seedlings and plant cuttings. All proceeds go to support the school’s art, literacy, and extra-curricular programs as well as the Parkdale Food Center.

April 28 – An evening with Bruce Di Labio.
Bruce Di Labio is a world-class birder and bird columnist for the Ottawa Citizen and will speak as part of the Westboro Beach Community Association Environmental Speakers Series. Admission is free but cash donations to support environmental initiatives would be greatly appreciated. It will be informative and fun too.
