Venerable Catholic School in Wellington West gets ready to party May 4th.

St. George School in Wellington West will be celebrating a big anniversary this May and would like to spread the word about the celebration and reunion to any and all former students, teachers and faculty from the past 90 years.

St. George School will mark its 90th anniversary with a Reunion and Spring BBQ on Sunday May 4th.

St. George elementary school started in the Parish Hall of St. George’s Church, on Piccadilly Avenue in 1924 where it remained until 1939 when a new facility was built beside the Church. This was expanded in 1949 and a gym was added in the ‘60’s.

That school was closed in 2002 and its students transferred to Champlain Park, where it is now a thriving school of 380 students with an all day kindergarten, a before and after school program, and a new pre-school program starting in May 2014.

Several former students who attended St. George in the 1930’s (both in Church Hall and the new school) will be attending the reunion, as will a student who went to school at St George’s in the 1930’s and whose daughter is now the Principal of St. George. This promises to be a great community event with a fascinating historical context.
Gail Gavan and some Ottawa Valley friends will be performing at the reunion which will also feature a BBQ, Bouncy Castles and more. For more information about this event, those interested can contact Mrs. Gagliano at St George School at 613-728-8291.
